Winner Of Washington Watermelon Weigh-Off

The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Watermelon Weigh - Off was held at Historic Washington State Park on Saturday September 5th. Eight melons from four states were entered. The event is sponsored be the state park in conjunction with the Washington Farmers Market, the city of Washington, and the Hope /Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. Chairman Josh Williams congratulates first-place winner Jeremy Lindley of Wynne, Arkansas on his 232.75 pound melon. Lindley won $500. This was Lindley's first year of comepetitve watermelon growing.
