The Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Watermelon Weigh - Off was held at Historic Washington State Park on Saturday September 5th. Eight melons from four states were entered. The event is sponsored be the state park in conjunction with the Washington Farmers Market, the city of Washington, and the Hope /Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce. Chairman Josh Williams congratulates second-place winner Spencer Glascow from Bessemer, Alabama who grew at 224.66 pound melon. Glascow won $300.
