Southwest Arkansas Farmer's Market Consortium Holds Meeting To Plan 2015 Markets

Over 100 people turned out Tuesday January 27th for a meeting of the Southwest Arkansas Farmer's Market Consortium at Hempstead Hall on the University of Arkansas Hope campus.  The meeting included the market managers, producers, and patrons of the Hope, Washington, and Nashville Farmer's Markets. A "local foods tasting" was held several dozen dishes served featuring home-grown foods. Debra Bolding and Jodi Coffee gave an update on the history of the local farmer's markets as well as offering some of the guidelines producers must follow. The markets will feature fresh, locally-grown produce sold by the grower as well as local honey, farm-fresh eggs, fresh-cut flowers, home-baked goods, home-made soaps, and at some markets hand-crafted items. The markets start in May of this year. Hope will meet on Tuesdays, Nashville on Fridays, and Washington on Saturdays. For info on Hope phone Jodi Coffee at 870-703-5426, in Nashville Debra Bolding at 870-557-2352, and in Washington Billy O'Rorke at 870-826-4101. All the markets are on facebook as well.
