There were high spirits in Washington on Friday August 29th as the city received a $15,000 grant to purchase a fire truck from the city of Hope.  Washington obtained the grant from the Arkansas Department of Rural Services and the Arkansas Rural Development Commission through the General Improvement Funded Fire Protection Grant Program.  The new truck comes from the Hope Fire Department who recently put the truck up for auction after purchasing a new truck.  The Washington Fire Department provides fire protection and first responder assistance for the 183 citizens of Washington as well as the tourists to and structures of Historic Washingto State Park and the Pioneer Washington Restoration Foundation.
