Hope Lions Learn About Federal Deficit From Dr. J. David Ashby Of S.A.U.

The Hope Lions Club heard a fascinating program Monday May 5th from Dr. J. David Ashby, Professor of Finance from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.  Dr. Ashby gave a great program on the federal deficit.  He explained that the federal government has been spending around $600 billion more than it takes in in taxes and that often government's reaction to deficit spending is to add more taxes.  He pointed out how this was becoming a problem in California.  Dr. Ashby did have some optimism about the economy noting that he expects continued growth.  Dr. Ashby is the father of Lion Laurie Pinner.
