Hope Rotary Club Hears Program on Hospice Of Hope

Hope Rotarian Ben Brazzel brought Joe Schoen and Bubba Powers to speak to the club about Hospice of Hope and Hospice of Texarkana on Thursday May 1st.  Schoen is a long-time board member and volunteer.  He explained that Hospice of Hope is associated with Hospice of Texarkana and that the organizations are the only non-profit hospice organizations serving southwest Arkansas.  The organization has been active nearly thirty years and is raising money to build an in-patient facility on the Christus St. Micheal's campus in Texarkana to serve families throughout the region.  Bubba Powers talked about his familiy's experience with Hospice of Hope when his father, Leland Powers passed away.  Bubba Powers speaks highly of the organization and recently offered his help when the organization had a fundraiser at the Rick Evans Grandview Prairie Conservation Education Center near Columbus.  The aim of the fundraiser was to raise $10,000 and it raised $13,000. Powers says they are planning another such fundraiser next year.
