Chamber Cuts Ribbon For Anthony-Routon Amphitheater

Hundreds enjoyed Lions fish and Tyson chicken Thursday (4-17) on the UACCH campus at the 21st annual UACCH Fish Fry.  The event also marked a ribbon-cutting for the new Anthony-Routon Amphitheater at the college.  The ribbon was cut by Bonnie Routon surrounded by members of the Anthony and Routon families.  Also honored was Randy and Sonya Odom for their work on the new facility.  Hope Mayor Dennis Ramsey made the official remarks on behalf of the Chamber and the City of Ho.  He asked the crowd members from Hope and Hempstead County to recognize themselves for voting for the tax to build Hempstead Hall.  Prior to the ribbon-cutting the Hope High Jazz Cats became the first musical group to perform on the new stage and following the ribbon-cutting the "Eskimo Brothers" from Nashville, Tennessee headlined the first concert at the new venue.  The trio performed a variety of "rockabilly" favorites to a highly enthusiastic crowd.  The group has a local tie as one of the members is the grandson of UACCH Vice-Chancellor Jerald Barber.
