The winners show off their ribbons Saturday September 1st at the Great Pumpkin Commonwealth Weigh-Off in Washington. Chairman Josh Williams is shown at right. To his left is winner Lloyd Bright who took the $500 1st prize for his 233.5 pound melon. To Bright's left is Dave Cantrell of Corryton, TN who won $300 for his 223.5 pound melon. To Cantrell's left is Barbara Jones of Bossier City, LA with her 205 pound 3rd place melon which won $150. Next is Paula Fields of Washington who won $50 Honorable Mention with her 62.25 pound melon. The contest was sponsored locally by the Old Washington Farmer's Market, the Blending Eras EHC, and the Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce
