Dozens, maybe hundreds of cars came to visit Hempstead County's "Christmas Town" on Saturday December 13th.  The residents of Oakhaven revived the tradition of lighting luminaries and lining the streets several years ago and this year the community also had every home near the street decorated with additional lights.  Credit for the decorations at a third of the homes goes to Oakhaven's "Mr. Christmas" Les Patterson.  Patterson began decorating his own house several years ago.  Eventually his decorations spilled into two neighboring yards and other neighbors approached him for help with their yards.  With the help of his son David, Patterson helped decorate 8 homes and the tennis courts.  Soon the other residents worked on their own decorations and the result is the most decorated neighborhood (and incorporated  town!) in southwest Arkansas.  Thanks to Mayor Troy Lerew and the residents for a wonderful Christmas treat and remember the neighborhood will be aglow with lights throughout the holidays.  Oakhaven is located north of I-30 off highway 32 and 2 miles from US 278.
